Scheduling A Personalized Smile Analysis

Julie Martin RDH
is the administrative coordinator of Esthetic Dentistry of
Maine®, she will coordinate your initial
consultation with Dr. Armstrong. First we will have an informed
discussion regarding your reasons for seeking esthetic care.
We want you to feel comfortable with us and our environment.
We will also review your medical and dental history as well
as your concerns regarding being our dental patient.
Comprehensive analysis and treatment prioritization ensure
more
successful care.
Next we perform an oral examination checking for any problems
that may be more of a priority than esthetic care (cancer screening,
bite/muscle problems, gum/bone inflammation, decay/fractured
teeth, worn out appliances, orthodontic problems etc.). Disease
and bite problems, if not corrected will lead to failure of
any esthetic treatment. You may be referred to your dentist
of record if necessary to handle these problems. Or, in many
cases, you may need treatment through other professionals that
we routinely work with to help us facilitate your case. These
may be an oral surgeon, orthodontist, endodontist, periodontist,
plastic surgeon or cosmetologist.
We will then take
digital images of your smile and teeth. These may be computer
imaged for you to review with us. Models of your teeth may
be taken for Dr. Armstrong to analyze or modify for your review.
Necessary radiographs or radiovisiography will be taken to
ensure proper diagnosis.
Then a summary
of findings will be discussed with you in relation to your
expectations. A treatment plan with options, risk/benefits,
costs, treatment duration, and a concept of expected result
will be presented and explained either at the initial consultation
or a follow up appointment. A smile analysis will be discussed
with you in terms of your concerns and in terms of ideal long-term
results. Our goal is to do the least that will provide the
most long term.
