Your Smile Analysis is one of the most
important steps in determining what is best for your smile. Dr.
Armstrong and Julie Martin, RDH personally handle your initial
consultation. They will listen to your ideas on what you
would like to see for results and give you sincere feedback as
to what options are available to you when considering to enhance
your smile.
At EDM, we want
to get to know you and have you feel comfortable with us. We
will also review your medical and dental history as well as
your concerns regarding being a dental patient. There
are some important things that we will consider during your
smile analysis, such as:
- Cancer screening
- Bite/muscle problems
- Gum/bone health
condition
- Decay/fractured
teeth
- Worn out appliances
- Orthodontic problems,
etc.
Comprehensive analysis and prioritized treatment
better assure a successful case. Disease and bite problems,
if not corrected will lead to failure of any of the esthetic
treatment you may receive. You may be referred to your dentist
of record if necessary to handle these problems. Or, in many
cases, you may need treatment with other professionals that
we routinely work with to help us facilitate your case. These
may be an oral surgeon, orthodontist, periodontist, plastic
surgeon or cosmetologist.
During your smile analysis we will
take digital images of your smile and teeth. These may
be computer imaged for you to review with us. X-rays of your teeth
will also be requested. If you do not have a recent set,
you may make an appointment with us to take the necessary
radiographs. Models of your teeth will often be taken for
Dr. Armstrong to analyze or modify for your review. Our
state-of-the-art technology will allow us to alter the
images captured during your initial visit to give you a "real
life" view of what your future smile will look like. We
will then go over any altered images during your second visit
with us.
